James is a self-taught multidisciplinary designer, technologist and product builder living just outside Skaneateles, NY and frequently travels to New York City. He is currently the Owner and Founder of Negativespace, a design consultancy focused on crafting delightful products and implementing design at scale for startups and medium sized businesses.
Most recently, James was the Design Systems Lead for Tell, an influencer relationship management platform, which helped Creative Agencies and Influencer Managers focus on pitching, winning, and executing influencer marketing campaigns. There he built Show, a React powered design system and component library.
From 2015-2017, he was the Front End Development Lead for Brandibble, a sophisticated online-ordering platform for restaurants and fast-casual dining. There, he hand-crafted dozens of bespoke designs, individually tailored to each brand, and tightly integrated into the Brandibble platform and services. Prior, he worked at various design boutiques in New York City, with emphasis on luxury brands, high-end hospitality and ecommerce. He has also had a stint as a web design, development and user experience instructor at Noble Desktop, New York's top design and code school since 1990.
Throughout his career he's partnered with entrepreneurs, engineers and designers to build, and craft designs directly in the web, first in an art and creative direction role, and later on as a design technologist, focusing on design at scale.
James is an experienced skydiver, vinyl music collector, and craft beer enthusiast. He is heavily influenced by print design from the Swiss modernist era, and brings much of his love for classical graphic design to the web.
